First Quarter down!

Finally, a week that went quickly! On Tuesday the students were dismissed at 1:45 and we had an in service afterward and then on Friday students were dismissed at 11:30 and we had the afternoon to work. It's amazing what a difference those made in the speediness of the week. I've been battling a cold this week, but luckily it hasn't been too bad. The "young" teachers and I went to Margaritas on Wednesday night for Mexican food. Their food is very good and it was a nice break from reality. On my trips to zumba in North Platte, the changing of seasons has become pretty obvious. When I started, my trips back to Hershey were spent adjusting the visor to block out the blaring sun. Now when I head back the sun is already below the horizon. Easier driving conditions, but I worry about deer. On Friday I headed back to Lexington because I had an eye appointment at 8 Saturday morning. Within an hour of being home we got the call that my grandpa had fallen, and ultimately had broken his hip. Ironically my grandpa's cousin and his wife and grandchild from Colorado had just gotten into town when it happened.

Later we were talking about the coincidence of the event. My grandpa's cousin, my sister, and I were all in town. A week prior, I had been riding back from North Platte with another teacher and I was telling her a random story about that particular cousin of my grandpa's. Then, that night I was talking to my mom and she told me that they were planning to visit on the 14th. I told her how weird it was that I had just told a story about them AND that I was already planning on going home for the eye appointment that weekend. My grandpa's cousin's wife had told my mom that about two weeks ago he just started saying how he felt like he needed to come visit, completely out of the blue.
Over the past two weeks I've had several 'intuitive' feelings and moments unrelated to each other and so far I'm not sure what to make of it all.

The first quarter of school is officially over, which feels good, but I'm sure I'll feel much more relieved after parent/teacher conferences which are Friday and the following Monday. It's now Saturday evening and I'm still in Lex. I hope to take advantage of the hot tub and plan to head back tomorrow afternoon to get back in time to plan for the 4 day week. I've been loving this weather, almost everyday is gorgeous! I hope it lasts awhile before it snows. knock on wood...
